FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 2 Trailer Unleashes Freddy’s Dark Origins and Introduces Skeet Ulrich’s Mysterious Role

A brand new trailer and poster for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 have arrived, teasing a chilling return to the haunted halls of the infamous pizzeria, and a first look at Skeet Ulrich’s mysterious new character.

The sequel to Emma Tammi’s 2023 horror hit promises to crank the terror. The first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie had a great run at the box office, opening with an $80 million debut and climbing to nearly $300 million worldwide. Now, the Blumhouse and Scott Cawthon team are back to continue the twisted legacy of Freddy and his murderous animatronic crew.

Set a year after the events of the first film, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 finds Josh Hutcherson’s Mike and Elizabeth Lail’s Vanessa struggling to keep the truth about what happened at Freddy Fazbear’s from Mike’s younger sister, Abby (played by Piper Rubio).

But when Abby sneaks out to reunite with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, she unknowingly sets off a new nightmare that unearths the horrifying origins of Freddy’s and a long-buried evil waiting to strike again.

The sequel brings back Matthew Lillard as the sinister William Afton and Theodus Crane as Jeremiah, alongside new faces including Freddy Carter (Shadow and Bone), Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park), Mckenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home), and Skeet Ulrich, best known for Scream.

Director Emma Tammi, who also serves as an executive producer, returns to helm the sequel with a script co-written by franchise creator Scott Cawthon. Tammi recently teased fans at New York Comic Con about what to expect this time around, saying,

“Well, I think [fans will] be excited about how many animatronics there are in the second one and how they're lifted from the second game. So there's the direct connection there. But, yeah, seeing them out in the world gives them a new environment to interact with. And it's pretty hilarious and scary and all the things you hope it would be.”

She went on to add, “I actually feel like I kind of like discover a new FNAF animatronic every week. I'm like, I think I know all of them. And then a new one pops up. And I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, I haven't seen that one yet.' So I feel like there's a wealth of potential characters we could pull from.”

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 looks to expand the lore while digging deeper into what makes Freddy tick, and Ulrich’s involvement hints at a major piece of that mystery.

The terror returns when Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 hits theaters worldwide on December 5.
