Florence Pugh Reveals the Most Fun Marvel Co-Star and Credits Tom Holland With Yelena's Popularity
Florence Pugh is an Academy Award nominated actress who has played a plethora of roles, but she is best known by Marvel fans as Yelena Belova, who has taken on the mantle of Black Widow in the MCU.
Pugh recently appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, where she answered a bunch of rapid fire questions, and in one, she was asked who she thought was the most fun co-star in Marvel. She quickly responded, saying, “Channing Tatum, Doomsday. He’s so fun!”
She went on to chat with Fallon about her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and when Tom Holland was brought up, she shared:
“You know, this all happened because of Tom. So, years ago when I had just kind of started my relationship with Marvel, and Black Widow had come out and my Yelena wasn’t obviously as big as all the other big superheroes, he, on the red carpet of his previous movie, when somebody said, ‘who do you want to do the next movie with?
“Do you want it to be with like Thor, or…’ I don’t remember the superheroes, but they were like massive superheroes. And he said, ‘No, actually, I want to do it with Florence Pugh who plays Yelena.’ So because of that, fans were then like so excited about the idea of it, and that started the ball rolling, so thanks for that, Tom!”
Yelena has been a hilarious and badass addition to the MCU, and I can’t wait to see what she does in Doomsday! In the final three months of this year, Pugh has the limited series East of Eden releasing on Netflix on October 1st, Dune: Part Three hitting theatres on December 18th, and Avengers: Doomsday releasing the same day as Dune.
