Florence Pugh, Shia LaBeouf, and Chris Pine Will Star in Olivia Wilde’s DON'T WORRY DARLING
Florence Pugh, Shia LaBeouf, and Chris Pine are set to star in director Olivia Wilde’s next film project Don’t Worry Darling. The film is set up at New Line Cinema, and the story is described as a “psychological thriller set in an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert.”
Pugh’s character will be the main character in the movie, and I’m intrigued by the concept. It makes me wonder if the setting for the film will be Mineral Springs and Health Spa off the Zzyzx exit on the I-15. It was a community built and founded by a religious quack in the late 40s, and it’s been dubbed “The Weirdest Town in America.” If you’re not familiar you can read about it here.
That’s all just speculation on my part, but with the description of “isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert,” that’s the first thing that popped in my head.
This is a high priority film for New Line, who won the rights to it after a heated bidding war thanks to the acclaim for Wilde’s directorial debut Booksmart.
The original script for the film comes from Shane and Carey Van Dyke (Don’t Worry Darling), and it will be rewritten by Katie Silberman, who co-wrote Booksmart and also penned the Netflix rom-com Set it Up.
