Focus Features Lands the Rights to Drama THE BIKERIDERS Starring Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy

Focus Features has landed the rights to the dramatic film The Bikeriders, starring Austin Butler (Elvis), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), and Tom Hardy (Venom). The crime period piece, from director Jeff Nichols (Mud, Loving), premiered at Telluride this fall, and it was initially set up for an awards-friendly December 1st release by 20th Century Studios, but it was removed from Disney’s calendar last month.

Sources have said that it was New Regency’s decision, and not Disney’s, to seek a new distributor. The production company also opted to remove The Bikeriders from the Disney calendar due to its actors’ inability to promote the feature, which carries a $40 million production budget, during the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The film is set in the ’60s, and it stars Jodie Comer and Austin Butler as a married couple involved in a rambunctious, greasy biker gang ruled by a hot-blooded leader, played by Tom Hardy.

The Bikeriders is now eyeing a 2024 release.
