Footage From Marvel's Animated Series WHAT IF...? Features Peggy Carter as Captain Carter, Marvel Zombies, and More!

Marvel didn’t have a lot of footage to show off for most of the Disney+ series that they are developing. But, they did show some footage from their upcoming animated series What If…? and it turned out pretty radical and I think it’s going to surprise and impress the fans.

Marvel’s What If…? is going to to be freakin’ awesome! This was easily one of the best and most exciting projects that Disney showed off during their Disney+ presentation.

The series will include most of the MCU cast reprising their roles in the series, which will examine the 23 past films in the MCU, but each of the stories will feature one key difference showing how the story would have played out differently. The Watcher is the narrator of the series, and he will be voiced by Jeffrey Wright.

The footage that was screened showed off all kinds of great stuff that got the crowd pumped up! One of the big things that the footage dove into was Peggy Carter played by Haley Atwell. Only in this story she is the one that is injected with the serum and she becomes Captain America, or in this series she’s known as Captain Carter. As you can see in the image above, she is sporting a Union Jack-themed costume and shield.

So what happens to Steve Rogers? Well, in this version of the story, he doesn’t become Captain America, he is still a scrawny Steve Rogers, but he is given a World War II style army green mech suit that looks like something Tony Stark would have built in WWII and he uses that to fight alongside Captain Carter! At one point Captain Carter is rocketing through the sky on the back of Rogers’ mech suit! It’s pretty freakin’ cool!

Then, at another point in the footage, in another episode, we see Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier fighting a zombie version of Captain America! Yep, that’s right, Marvel Zombies will be brought to life in this series!

Star-Lord also makes an appearance in the footage and we see him on the planet Morag to retrieve the Power Stone, but it’s a different person wearing Star-Lord’s mask! I’m not sure who it is, but when he takes the mask off it’s not Chris Pratt’s version of the character, instead there’s a black man.

The voice cast includes Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Josh Brolin as Thanos, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Taika Waititi as Korg, Toby Jones as Arnim Zola, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, and Michael Rooker as Yondu.

There was a lot of exciting stuff that was shown and it’s hard to remember it all, but one thing is for sure… Marvel fans are going to love this series!
