Former DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns Was Reportedly The Cause of Some JUSTICE LEAGUE Drama
Just yesterday, it was reported that Geoff Johns was stepping down as DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer. Jim Lee is set to replace him as CCO and Johns is moving on as a writer and producer of some future DC films like Green Lantern Corps.
Some new information has surfaced regarding Johns that may have helped lead to his departure. The information comes from Vulture senior editor Kyle Buchanan, and it entails how Johns caused some issues and drama with both Justice League screenwriter Chris Terrio and Warner Bros. executives. He explained on Twitter:
"I remember hearing that Geoff Johns rewrote so much of Justice League when Zack Snyder was still directing that Chris Terrio would complain, 'Maybe try using some of my pages?'"
"WB was allegedly so unsatisfied with how the Johns/Snyder version was shaping up that they convened a footage summit for other writers including Joss Whedon, Allan Heinberg, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Andrea Berloff to offer feedback. Then they hired Whedon."
With all of the drama surrounding the DC films, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before Johns ended up being forced out of his positions. I'm sure he did the best he could, but when it comes to most people in positions like these, there's a lot of big egos that are clashing with each other.
Things obviously weren't working with Johns in these positions and I hope that whoever they bring on board to take his place as president will be able to straighten things out and fix the things that are broken at DC Entertainment.
I think things will work better as Johns works with the studio on a film by film basis.
