Fortune Favors the Bold in First Trailer for UNCHARTED with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg

Sony Pictures has unleashed the first trailer for its live-action film adaptation of Uncharted. The movie comes from director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and stars Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.

The film will tell the story of a young Nathan Drake before he becomes the adventurous treasure hunter from the game. Nathan Drake is known for his adventures across the world as he uncovers various historical mysteries. Sully is his mentor.

I’ve had my doubts about this movie because while I like Tom Holland, I just don’t think he fits the role of Nathan Drake, and watching this trailer proves that. I don’t see that badass version of Nathan Drake that we all know, and I don’t see Holland ever growing into that role. It looks like it’ll be a fun and adventurous action film, but it’s not a proper Uncharted movie without proper version Nathan Drake.

The synopsis reads:

Based on one of the best-selling, most critically acclaimed video game series of all time, Uncharted introduces audiences to the young street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and showcases his first treasure hunting adventure with wisecracking partner Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg). In an action-adventure epic that spans the globe, the two go in dangerous pursuit of “the greatest treasure never found” while also tracking clues that may lead to Nathan’s long-lost brother.

Art Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the most recent draft of the script. The film also stars Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali, and The 100 actor Tati Gabrielle. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

The Uncharted movie hits theaters on February 18th, 2022.
