Fox Animation Adapting The Graphic Novel THE WITCH BOY Into a Film
Which Boy? That boy. That boy? Witch Boy! Fox Animation has just picked up the rights to an upcoming graphic novel written by Knox Ostertag called The Witch Boy.
Witch Boy centers on 13-year-old boy named Aster, whose family raises all their girls to be witches and boys to be shapeshifters. Aster has yet to shift but he has gotten very interested in witchcraft, which is grounds upon being exiled in Aster's family. But when a danger threatens the other boys, it's up to Aster to help... with witchcraft.
Knox Ostertag has already gathered some fame for her work on the Disney Channel TV show Star vs. the Forces of Evil, so this is obviously the next big step in her career.
This could be a great new graphic novel, and while I do have hope for it to succeed, it's quite a big step for Fox to pick it up before it's even released. Here's hoping it succeeds on both fronts.
The Witch Boy graphic novel is set to be released in October by Scholastic Press.
