FOX Cancels Marvel's THE GIFTED and It Will Not Get a Third Season

For those of you who were fans of Fox’s Marvel series The Gifted, I’ve got some bad news for you. The network has canceled the series, and it will not be back for a third season.

The family adventure series was set in the X-Men universe, and I actually liked the first two seasons. I thought the show was decent, but it’s not surprising that Fox would cancel it, especially after the Disney deal closed. After all, Marvel Studios is going to eventually completely reboot the X-Men franchise.

According to the report, though, “there is a chance for The Gifted to find a new home within the Disney family.” But there are no discussions happening, and I doubt that they will.

The Gifted was produced by Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, and Jim Chory, and it was developed by Matt Nix (Burn Notice):

Action-adventure family drama THE GIFTED, from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

The series also had a great cast that includes Blair Redford, Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Jamie Chung, Sean Teale, Natalie Alyn Lind, Emma Dumont, Percy Hynes White, and Coby Bell.

What are your thoughts on The Gifted being canceled?
