Fox Developing a Remake of the 80s Comedy 9 TO 5 with Rashida Jones

With the #MeToo movement in full swing, Hollywood feels like it's a good time to remake of the classic 1980s comedy 9 to 5. The original movie starred Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin as three female secretaries who decide to get revenge on their tyrannical, sexist boss who blackmails Parton's character into sleeping with him. So she teams up with her two friends to kidnap him and run the business themselves.

According to Deadline, creator Pat Resnick is in talks to return to co-write the series with actress and screenwriter Rashida Jones. They feel that she can "make the concept relevant to a young comedy audience." Jones seems like the perfect choice to work on the film and I imagine there's a chance that maybe she could end up playing one of the three female leads. The project is in early development so it's still too early to tell who might be cast in the film.

9 to 5 will also be produced by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things). I remember watching 9 to 5 when I was younger and I remember a few bits and pieces from it. There's no way I could forget Dolly Parton's theme song, though!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the original movie, here's the trailer:
