Fox Executive Had To Give Up Marvel Properties To Kevin Feige, But Will Oversee The AVATAR Sequels

With Disney’s acquisition of Fox, there has been a lot of speculation as to what would happen to the already established properties and the Fox staff connected to them. Slowly those questions have been answered, of course Avatar is staying but what about the Marvel characters? This last Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that Fantastic Four was on the horizon as well as “Mutants”. Now we are starting to see the division of power and who wields it.

Deadline reports that Fox vice chairman and head of production, Emma Watts, who oversaw all Marvel productions, has decided to stay with Disney. It’s said that she will still be in charge of the Fox Productions with the exception of all Marvel properties. She had to give that up and hand over all Marvel entities, including Deadpool, to Feige. Disney hasn’t come out and confirmed this, but the report has been making it around the net with no resistance so I am assuming that it is only a matter of time until it is made official.

Watts was thought to be heading to Paramount where the former head of Fox studios, Jim Gianopulos, is currently chief. Honestly, would you leave if you knew that you had four Avatar movies coming out under your belt? Plus all of the deals that were made before Disney came into the picture. It is the smart move.
