Fox Is Developing an Animated X-FILES Comedy Series Titled THE X-FILES: ALBUQUERQUE

I’ve got some exciting unexpected news for all you X-Files fans! Fox is developing an animated comedy series titled The X-Files: Albuquerque.

The story will revolve around an “office full of misfit agents who investigate X-Files cases too wacky, ridiculous or downright dopey for Mulder and Scully to bother with.” It’s explained that these agents are basically the X-Files’ B-team.

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are not involved with the project right now, but that could change. I’m curious to see who these misfit agent characters are, though, and to see what kind of crazy cases that they find themselves investigating.

We don’t have any other details to share. We don’t know if the series will be set during the original run of the X-Files series or if it will be set in the present day. I think it would be much more interesting, though, if these stories were set in the 90s during the original Mulder and Sculley adventures.

X-Files creator Chris Carter is on board to executive produce the project, with Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko attached to write and executive produce. Gabe Rotter, who worked on the X-Files revival at Fox, will also executive produce.

What would you like to see from this new animated X-Files show? Do you like the concept? I think it could be a lot of fun!
