Fox is Looking to Change Commercial Breaks to Inspire Viewers
No one likes commercials. That’s why people love streaming services like Netflix, and why Hulu has a commercial-free option. Fox Networks Group is trying to change how we perceive the breaks between parts of an episode of our favorite TV shows and movies.
According to Variety, Fox is going to start airing inspirational videos during commercial breaks. This fall you’ll be able to watch people overcome adversity in place of commercials on various Fox channels including FX and National Geographic. Fox is hoping that advertisers will sponsor the videos (they have to make money somehow) of people working through the loss of a limb, triumphing over cancer, or other inspirational moments.
In order to pull this off, Fox teamed up with ad agency TBWA who put together the famous 1984 Super Bowl ad for Apple, the Energizer Bunny, and even the Taco Bell Chihuahua. This sounds better than just having products being shoved down your throat, so I’m interested to see how it turns out. What do you think of this idea?
