Fox Juggles Some Release Dates For DEATH ON THE NILE, AD ASTRA, and STUBER
If you are excited for Death on the Nile, your wait for the film just got extended. The film was originally slated to be released December 20, 2019, but Fox has decided it needs more time. Death on the Nile will now be released October 2, 2020.
The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Tom Bateman, Gal Gadot, and Armie Hammer with Jodie Comer expected to join the cast.
The story follows "Poirot investigating a murder during a luxurious cruise on the Nile River that he just happens to be on. But just as he identifies a motley collection of would-be killers, several of the suspects also meet their demise, which only deepens the mystery.”
This isn’t the only film that Fox is juggling though. The sci-fi film Ad Astra from director James Gray starring Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones has been moved from January 11, 2019, to May 24, 2019.
In Ad Astra (which means “to the stars” in Latin), Pitt would play “the slightly autistic space engineer Roy McBride. Twenty years after his father left on a one-way mission to Neptune in order to find signs of extra-terrestrial intelligence, McBride travels through the solar system to find him and understand why his mission failed.”
The third film to get the bump is Michael Dowse’s Stuber starring Dave Bautista. Instead of releasing on May 24, 2019, you can now watch it starting July 12, 2019.
The movie is about “a determined detective (Bautista) who commandeers an unsuspecting Uber and its driver (Nanjiani) over one night of high jinks and mayhem.”
No reason was provided for any of these changes, but some are speculating Disney may have had a hand since the company is acquiring Fox in the first part of 2019.
