Fox Says They Are Open to GOTHAM Spinoffs

Love it or hate it, Gotham is going nowhere anytime soon. In fact, CBR is reporting that Fox President Gary Newman said he would be happy to see a spin off of the series focusing on one of the show's central villains! There's an incredible "BUT" to that, as Newman follows up the statement with...

We haven't had any conversations with Warners about whether or not they'd want to do a spinoff series. I think that would be an issue for DC. It isn't quite clear to me that they'd be ready to do that, but it's a good idea."

Sounds to me like the wheels are turning at Fox, and while nothing official has been pitched to DC, they have the idea that it won't be well received. As much as I would like to see Penguin get his own show, I can see the issue DC has in expanding a multiverse story line separate from its current brand and potentially confusing viewers. That being said, Gotham has been a huge success for Fox, and while I know its fan base is about a 50/50 split here on the site, I wouldn't mind another Gotham-based series!
