Frank Grillo Says Marvel Studios Almost Fired Him 36 Times for Because of Sharing Too Much Info
Frank Grillo had a decent run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the villainous character Brock Rumlow, aka Crossbones. He appeared in three of Marvel’s films and became a fan-favorite after Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Fans would still love to see the characters return to the franchise in the future. I would’ve liked to see the character explored more with a stranger story arc, but we got what we got, and in the middle of it all, Marvel almost fired the actor multiple times.
During an interview with CB, the actor was asked about his work in the DC Universe. Grillo is set to voice to the character of Rick Flag Sr. in the animated series Creature Commandos, before appearing as the live-action version of the character in Peacemaker Season 2 and Superman.
He didn’t want to say much about his role because he didn’t want to make anyone over at DC Studios mad at him. While at Marvel he explained too much, and he learned his lesson.
Grillo said: "You know, unfortunately, there's nothing I can really say that wouldn't get me in trouble. So I kind of have to step back and go, 'I take the fifth.’ I am so bad at this. Like, Marvel almost fired me 36 f---ing times because I don't know. I never want to lie. And so, I do that a little too much. But I've been warned."
Marvel must’ve been pretty pissed off at him! Nothing seemed to stop him during that time, though. When talking about his experience working with Marvel and DC, he said:
"I don't know, at this point in my life, all the things that I thought were real and true, I've learned as a man who's now matured, that if they ask me to do that, I would love to go back and do it.
“And I'm loving what I'm doing with DC. I love James Gunn and Peter Safran and they've given me an amazing opportunity. But at this point, I'm happy about everything I've done and I'm certainly willing to...if they meet me, if there's something great to go do, I would certainly be ready to go do that."
So, it seems like Grillo is having a good time playing in these big franchises!
