Frank Grillo Teases The Return of His MCU Character Crossbones

Audiences were introduced to Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and then got to see him in his full glory in Captain America: Civil War, where by all accounts he was killed off, but Marvel fans know nothing is ever final unless there’s a body.

Actor Frank Grillo, who played the menacing villain, sat down for an interview with Forbes and dropped a hint about his character's future in the MCU. And, if the actor is correct, then the MCU isn't done with Crossbones just yet. While talking about The Purge, Grillo brought up his Marvel gig.

“I'm also a small part of the Marvel world, but to be a part of something like this, if anyone tells you that's not a big deal, they're lying. It's great to be part of Marvel too."
“I have three boys who are fanatical about Marvel, and I was surprised not too long ago because there is some news that nobody knows yet, to do with my character, that's going to be really interesting and I'm excited about that.”

This is vastly different from what the actor told Collider a few months ago. He thought he was done with The Purge and his stint in the Marvel Universe.

“I think I’m done. Same thing with Captain America. There’s nowhere for it to go, unless you’re Captain America or Iron Man. They were talking about it, but I was like, ‘You know what? I’d just rather not do it.’ I’m so appreciative and grateful to have been a part of something that big.”

This can only mean that Grillo learned something important in the last eight months. Crossbones was presumed dead after he appeared to have perished in an explosion contained by the Scarlett Witch. Grillo’s character tried to take out Captain America by blowing himself up.

The next MCU flick to hit theaters will be Thor: Ragnarok on November 3.
