Frankie Muniz Says Bryan Cranston Is Writing the Script for a MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE Series Reboot
Frankie Muniz is best known for his role of Malcolm in the beloved sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, which starred Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston as his father, way before he turned into Walter White. The series ran from 2000-2006, airing 151 episodes, and lasting seven seasons. It let fans watch this dysfunctional family grow up, and it was a ton of fun.
It would make sense that some of the stars and the fans of the series might want to see a reboot or reunion, seeing as how we are getting lots of those these days, but it may surprise some that Cranston would be down to return, seeing as how he is a busier actor now. As it turns out, he is not only wanting the reboot, but he is heavily involved in making it happen.
Muniz explained in a recent interview with Fox News while promoting his role in VH1's revival of The Surreal Life:
"We did seven seasons, 151 episodes. I didn't really watch the show when it was on, but I've now since watched the show with my wife. We [watched] all 151 episodes," Muniz said. "I realized, 'Wow, that's what we were making.'... I can separate myself from being on it and watching it as a fan. I would love to know what the family's up to."
"I know Bryan Cranston is really into the idea and he's kind of heading writing the script and getting everything rolling. So, there might be something. I would be down 100 percent."
Muniz went on to say, "But I don't know, we'll see what happens." It sounds like things are in very early stages, so who knows if it will get off the ground, but it would be really fun to see the whole cast back together for a revival of some sort. Were you a fan of Malcolm in the Middle?
