Frankie Muniz Stars in Trailer For Sci-Fi Thriller RENNER as An A.I. Tech Whose System Has Gone Awry
A trailer has been released for the sci-fi thriller Renner, starring Frankie Muniz, Violett Beane, Taylor Gray, and Marcia Gay Harden as the voice of the A.I. assistant Salenus.
The film was directed by Robert Rippberger (The Hoodwink, Strive, Those Who Walk Away), from a screenplay written by Luke Medina and Martin Medina, from a story by Luke Medina.
The full synopsis reads: “Renner (starring Frankie Muniz), a reclusive computer genius driven by a need for control, designs an A.I. named Salenus to help him overcome his crippling social anxieties and find love.
“Encouraged by Salenus, Renner forms a connection with his alluring neighbor Jamie, but their relationship starts to unravel when she begins to interact with the A.I.
“As dark secrets and betrayals begin to surface, Salenus's influence on Renner takes a malicious turn, leaving him entangled in the devastating consequences of his invention.
This looks a little hacky, but like it could also be a lot of fun. Muniz looks like he takes his performance right to the edge of insanity. Check out the trailer below, and watch Renner in select US theatres on February 7th.
