Freddie Prinze Jr. Joins CBS Nancy Drew Pilot

Freddie Prinze Jr. has signed on to the Nancy Drew pilot coming to CBS. Variety reported that Prinze will play Carson Drew, an attorney and the father of the girl detective, Nancy. In this reimagining of the Nancy Drew book series, Nancy has just graduated from high school and is planning to leave for college when a family tragedy strikes, sidelining her plans. She is then mixed up in a murder investigation, finds out details about her father’s past, and is trying to navigate the new trajectory of her life.

I think it sounds like an interesting new idea for the Nancy Drew storyline to take off from. And it’s been a while since I’ve seen Prinze. acting, as he was a 90’s heartthrob, but has since been less in the spotlight. Although I looked into what he’s been up to, and he has stayed on the scene, but more so doing voice acting (Star Wars Rebels) and a stint on 24, which I always meant to finish, but didn’t.

I like the idea of him as Nancy’s dad. It’s age appropriate, he’s a good actor, and he’s still cute as a button. Does this sound like a series you’ll be interested in? I’ll be checking it out for sure! Stay tuned for more info as we learn it.
