FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Scribe Is Writing a Biopic About Football Star Kurt Warner
Super Bowl MVP and football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner is getting his very own biopic titled American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story. It will “chronicle the true story of the football legend, who went from stocking shelves at a supermarket to become a two time NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and Hall of Fame quarterback.”
The film is being written by Friday Night Lights scribe David Aaron Cohen, and it will be directed by Jon Erwin and Andrew Erwin (I Still Believe), who will also produce. Kurt Warner and Brenda Warner are also co-producers on the project.
The script will be based upon interviews with Warner as well as Warner’s memoir, All Things Possible: My Story Of Faith, Football and the First Miracle Season. The filmmakers are currently on the hunt for actors to play Kurt Warner and Brenda Warner.
Lionsgate is producing the film and it will be released on December 18th. This is sure to make a great inspiring sports movie, and I love inspiring sports movies!
