FRIDAY THE 13TH Revival Could Cast Former WWE Superstar as Jason Voorhees
The Friday the 13th franchise is making a major comeback with multiple projects in the works, and it looks like a new Jason Voorhees might already be lurking in the shadows.
Former WWE superstar Adam Scherr, best known to wrestling fans as Braun Strowman, has revealed that he’s eyeing the role of the legendary slasher in the upcoming revival film.
During an interview with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff at the premiere of Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon, Scherr made it clear that he has his sights set on Crystal Lake. When asked which horror franchise he’d love to join, Scherr didn’t hesitate:
“Oh, Friday the 13th. Jason.”
The 42-year-old powerhouse even joked that he’d be willing to ditch his trademark look for the role, adding,
“I’ll gladly shave this beard off to play that character.”
Scherr went on to suggest that conversations about his involvement might already be happening.
“There may be some talks about it with people that I know and my agency. If we could ever get everybody to get back on the same page and allow the things to work, I might be the next Voorhees.”
That’s an interesting tease from the former WWE Universal Champion, and fans are already imagining how his intimidating frame could bring a terrifying new presence to Jason.
Meanwhile, the larger Friday the 13th universe is expanding in multiple directions. The recently announced “Jason Universe” will feature short films, movies, and video games tied to the iconic franchise.
The first short film, Sweet Revenge, has already dropped on the Jason Universe YouTube channel. On the TV side, A24 and Peacock are developing Crystal Lake, a prequel series that will explore Jason’s origins with Callum Vinson set to play a young version of the killer.
As for the Friday the 13th revival movie, details are still under wraps. But with Scherr publicly throwing his hat in the ring and hinting at talks already happening, the possibility of a former WWE giant stepping into Jason’s boots is very real. Horror fans could be looking at one of the most physically imposing versions of the character yet.
