FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN Season 2 Teaser Reveals Symbiote Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider

Disney revealed the first teaser for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 at D23, and Peter’s next adventure is getting much bigger. The footage brings Eddie Brock into the story, gives fans a glimpse of Ghost-Spider, brings back Doctor Octopus and Daredevil, and closes with the symbiote wrapping itself around Peter.

Season 1 established this alternate corner of the Spider-Man universe with Peter Parker, Harry Osborn, Nico Minoru, and Lonnie Lincoln, who eventually began his transformation into Tombstone. Season 2 is going to expand that world with more familiar Marvel characters while continuing to put its own spin on Spider-Man mythology.

The D23 footage opens at an event attended by Harry Osborn, where Daily Bugle reporter Eddie Brock approaches him looking for an interview. Eddie doesn’t get very far before he’s sent away, but his appearance is obviously worth paying attention to considering what happens later in the teaser.

Things get dangerous when Doctor Octopus arrives and grabs Harry as part of his attempt to get revenge on Norman Osborn. Spider-Man jumps into action, battles Doc Ock, and manages to rescue his friend.

From there, the footage transitions into the animated series’ intro, which offers quick looks at several villains along with the arrival of Ghost-Spider. Daredevil also appears, with Charlie Cox returning to voice the Man Without Fear.

Then comes the big reveal. The symbiote begins consuming Peter, covering his body and transforming him into the black-suited Spider-Man, seemingly setting the stage for Venom to become a major part of Season 2.

That development has roots going all the way back to the first season. During the Oscorp incident, a portal to another Earth opened and allowed a symbiote to cross over. Spider-Man teamed up with Doctor Strange to deal with the immediate threat, but clearly that alien goo wasn’t finished causing trouble.

Marvel Television and Marvel Animation executive Brad Winderbaum has already confirmed that the symbiotes will be a “significant factor” in Season 2, and the teaser certainly supports that.

Eddie Brock showing up at the same time Peter bonds with the symbiote makes it pretty easy to see where the story could be headed.

Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed that Eddie will become Venom, but all the necessary pieces are sitting on the board. It would be pretty surprising if the season ended without Eddie getting his own nasty encounter with the alien symbiote.

Ghost-Spider is the bigger mystery. The character has previously been confirmed as Gwen Stacy, but we still don’t know exactly how this version of Gwen becomes Ghost-Spider or what her relationship with Peter will look like.

Season 1 already established that the multiverse exists when a Doctor Strange from another Earth crossed paths with Peter. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean Ghost-Spider will be another multiversal visitor.

This universe has already made major changes to familiar Marvel characters, including its very different interpretation of Nico Minoru, so Gwen could easily receive a new origin created specifically for the series.

That possibility is part of what makes Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man fun. It uses recognizable characters and pieces of Spider-Man history without being locked into recreating the stories fans already know.

Season 1 spent plenty of time developing Peter and Harry’s friendship while also chronicling Lonnie Lincoln’s tragic slide toward becoming Tombstone. Season 2 now has the opportunity to push Peter into much darker territory through the symbiote while adding Eddie Brock and Gwen Stacy to an increasingly crowded mix.

And if Peter really does lose himself to the symbiote before Venom enters the picture, things could get rough for everyone around him.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 premieres on Disney+ in January 2027.
