Chris Hemsworth Provided the Voice of Frog Thor in LOKI and We Almost Saw Him Beat Up Loki
There was a fun unexpected moment in the fifth episode of Loki in which Frog Thor, a.k.a. Throg, made a brief cameo in a jar in the Void. While in the jar he was desperately trying to get to Mjolnir. It was a great moment, and I would have certainly loved to see more of the character. It turns out that Throg actually has a much longer scene in the series that ended up being cut, and that scene was in the very first episode.
Loki producer Eric Martin shared the information on Twitter, and Throg would have appeared in the scene where Loki was watching bits of his life playback on a screen. Martin shared:
"Comic fans will notice the Frog of Thunder in that jar. We actually show a scene for the Time Theater in Ep 1 of Loki getting pummeled by Frog Thor, but had to cut it to keep things moving. It's too bad, because Tom was funny as hell."
It’s a shame that the scene ended up being cut! It sounds like it would have been hilarious and the fans would have loved to see that! I hope that one day we actually get to see that footage.
I have no idea if Marvel ever plans on playing with Throg more in the future, but now that we know he exists in the MCU, there’s always that chance that the character could appear at some point.
It was also revealed that Chris Hemsworth provided the voice of Throg! Director Kate Herron revealed:
"Throg, getting him in [was fun]. We recorded Chris Hemsworth for that, by the way. I haven't told anyone that yet, by the way, but we recorded him for that, so that's a new recording. That's a whole new recording and not recycled."
That’s pretty awesome! Would you like to see more of Throg in the MCU?
