Photographer Drew Simms braved extreme winter conditions in Yellowstone National Park to document its wildlife enduring a freezing temperatures as low as -37°F (-38.3°C).

Over a week-long expedition, he captured stunning footage of frozen bison trudging through deep snow, alongside scenes of coyotes, mountain goats, big horn sheep, and bobcats searching for sustenance amid the unforgiving environment.

Simms’ work offers a rare glimpse into what these animals face during winter. Reflecting on the experience, Simms shared:

“I was lucky enough to spend just over a week around Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming last winter. Weather was brutal with temps reaching almost -40°F! I spent time photographing and filming some of my all-time favorite wildlife experiences.

“Including frozen bison, multiple coyotes, mountain goats, big horn sheep, and many of the geysers around the park. Hands down one of my most memorable winter camping trips of my life.”

Simms utilized the Sony A7SIII to shoot this stunning footage.
