Full List of Nominees For The 93rd Academy Awards

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the nominees for the 93rd Academy Awards. This past year has certainly been a strange one for movies thanks to the pandemic. Movie theaters shut down, studios were forced to try new movie distribution methods and they were releasing films on streaming service and on PVOD.

The Academy had to make some changes this year to be able to accept a complete selection of eligible movies no matter how they debuted. They also accepted releases from January and February of this year.

In the end, the Academy nominated eight films this year for Best Picture and they include MinariMankSound of MetalNomadland, Judas and the Black Messiah, Promising Young Woman, The Trail of the Chicago 7, and The Father. These were all fantastic films and out of all of them, I’d say my top three favorites are Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal, and Mank.

I will say, I’m not really excited about movie awards this year. Yes, there have been some great films released, but after the year of hell the world has been through, movie awards don’t seem to really matter. Also, Award ceremonies just aren’t fun to watch anymore.

The 93rd Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, April 25th at the Dolby Theatre and other locations with a live telecast airing on ABC. Also, this year's ceremony will not have a host.
