Full Trailer and Poster for Awkward Comedy I LOVE MY DAD Starring Patton Oswalt
A new full trailer and poster have been released for the awkward comedy I Love My Dad, based on a true story from writer and director James Morosini, who stars in the film alongside comedian Patton Oswalt (The King of Queens). This father/son catfishing story premiered at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year, where it won both the Grand Jury Award and Audience Award.
Here’s the full synopsis:
Inspired by James Morosini’s true life experience, I Love My Dad follows Chuck (Oswalt), an estranged father who desperately wants to reconnect with his troubled son, Franklin (Morosini). Blocked on social media and concerned for his son’s life, Chuck impersonates a waitress online and starts checking in with Franklin. Things begin to spiral when Franklin falls for this imaginary girl (Sulewski) and wants nothing more than to meet her in person, as Chuck has inadvertently catfished his own son.
This trailer really takes the cringe a step further! But it looks so hilarious, and knowing it really happened to the guy you’re watching it happen to is all the more relatable and touching. Check out the new trailer below, and watch I Love My Dad in select US theaters starting on August 5th, 2022, then on VOD starting August 12th.
