Full Trailer for Netflix's Film Adaptation of Roald Dahl's MATILDA THE MUSICAL

Netflix has released the full trailer for the film adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical, which has been a big hit on Broadway. The story is based on the classic book, and centers on “a precocious and gifted girl who uses her powers to overcome bullies, including her family and her school's principal and protect her friends.”

Emma Thompson stars in the series as the tyrannical headmistress Miss Trunchbull, and she is completely unrecognizable! She is joined by newcomer Alisha Weir as the book-loving heroine Matilda, Lashana Lynch (No Time To Die) as the kindly teacher Miss Honey, and Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough as Matilda's parents, the money-hungry and superficial Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood.

The movie was directed by Matthew Warchus, who also directed the hit Tony and Olivier Award-winning Broadway musical. He said in a statement: "Matilda will be an imaginative and fresh retelling of the award-winning musical, Matilda, featuring talented young newcomers, alongside established stars. I look forward to introducing this beloved and powerful story to a new generation of fans around the world."

The story centers around Matilda Wormwood (Weir), “a little girl with big curiosity, a sharp mind and a vivid imagination — and the worst parents (Graham and Riseborough) in the world. While they keep themselves content with trashy TV and dodgy money-making schemes, Matilda loves to lose herself in the pages of her beloved books.

“After meeting her inspirational teacher, Miss Honey (Lynch), Matilda begins conjuring her own fantastical tales. Excited to attend Crunchem Hall, she’s surprised to find the school is an ominous and oppressive place led by the towering and villainous Miss Trunchbull (Thompson). Filled with an overwhelming sense of justice, Matilda dares to take a stand for what is right and teach Trunchbull a lesson she won’t forget.”

Netflix will release the movie on December 25th. Enjoy the trailer!
