First Full Trailer for Shonda Rhimes' Netflix Period Drama BRIDGERTON
Netflix has released the full trailer for their upcoming series Bridgerton that was executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, the creator of ABC dramas Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and Station 19. Rhimes made the production deal with Netflix in 2017 to bring a slate of new series to the streamer, and this is the first one in the lineup. This looks like a cross between Pride and Prejudice, Downton Abbey, and the dramatic, hyper-sexualized series Rhimes is known for.
The series is inspired by writer Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, which follow eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family as they look for love and happiness in London high society. Julie Andrews plays the role of Lady Whistledown, whose voice we hear in the trailer. Longtime partner of Rhimes Chris Van Dusen, who produced Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, created Bridgerton, and wrote the first season with help from Sarah Dollard, Janet Lin, Abby McDonald, and Joy C. Mitchell on one episode each.
This looks like another great series from the Shondaland production studio, and I am excited to check it out. Watch the trailer below, and watch the first season of Bridgerton on Netflix on Christmas Day.
