Fun New Details Revealed on The Hulk, Loki, Valkyrie, and Skurge in THOR: RAGNAROK

If you're excited about Thor: Ragnarok, I've got some new information to share with you regarding some of the characters. But first, if for some reason you haven't seen the new trailer for the movie yet, you need to watch it here! It's so freakin' cool!

Most of the actors in the film showed up at Comic-Con this weekend to showcase it at the Marvel panel and it seemed like fans loved what they saw. While there, they talked about certain aspects of the film and they offered up some new details on their characters.

The characters that you'll learn more about in this latest update on the film includes Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Tom Hiddleston's Loki, Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, and Karl Urban's Skurge.

Let's start out with The Hulk. There's no explanation given yet as to how he ended up in space on the planet Sakaar, but it's revealed that he's been in the form of Hulk for two years and he refuses to turn back into Bruce Banner. Why? Because he's enjoying life as the Hulk and as The Grandmaster's gladiator champion. Ruffalo says, “He’ll be damned if he’s gonna go back to Banner."

As you saw in the trailer, we see that the Hulk also speaks in the movie. Ruffallo explains that he is learning, so he basically has the same speaking ability as a two-year-old. I love what I've seen of the Hulk in the movie so far, and I'm sure they are saving the best stuff for the movie.

As for Loki, Tom Hiddleston reminded the fans that the last time we saw him, he was sitting on the throne of Asgard in the form of Odin. It’s been four years since that happened and when we see him in Thor: Ragnarok, things are a little different. When Thor comes home he finds that “Loki has directed his energy into narcissistic self-glorification and not governance.” The character will continue to be as unpredictable as he's always been, but as you saw in the trailer he does fight along side Thor once again.

Then in an interview with Comingsoon, Tessa Thompson was asked about Valkyrie giving up her Asgardian heritage in this film. She offered the following explanation:

“In a way, you find her in a place where she’s fallen from grace, I think. I won’t say exactly why, but she’s left Asgard and left that life behind her, and a part of what she’s left behind her is this desire to fight for something that she believes in. And so, I think there’s something really neat about meeting Thor and hopefully, that spirit being reinvigorated in her, because it’s so essential to who she is, I think, in the source material.”

Thompson looks so badass in the film! There were some pretty epic shots of her in the trailer. Then there is Urban's character Skurge. When talking about that character, the actor offered the following information:

“I play a character called Skurge and he’s operating the bifrost because Heimdall has gone missing. And then all of a sudden, Hela comes through and Skurge has a decision to make. He could die or survive, so he chooses to align himself with her and I think he makes a deal with the devil. And that’s when the rubber meets the road.”

He goes on to talk about the relationship between Skurge and Hela, saying:

“It’s a working relationship. He’s her henchman. He does the dirty jobs. And that sort of is something he has to – it plays on his conscience. It crossed a certain moral line and that’s the fun thing about this character and his arc in the movie.”

Thor: Ragnarok looks like an amazingly fun time. I especially enjoy the style of humor that's in it. The movie has a very different tone than the other Thor movies. I've seen a lot of people complain about the movie looking too much like Guardians of the Galaxy. The thing is... it makes sense that it would! After all, Thor is going to other parts of the universe and I imagine he'd come across some crazy places like Sakaar, which has a unique colorful style of its own. Not every planet in the Thor film franchise has to look like Asgard. I love that they are mixing it up! As for the humor, this has a very different comedic tone than Guardians
