Fun Trailer for DEAD BOY DETECTIVES Which Is Now Set to Premiere on Netflix Instead of Max
Netflix has released a fun trailer for their upcoming adventure comedy sci-fi series, Dead Boy Detectives, which made the jump from Max to Netflix at the beginning of this year. The show is based on characters created for DC by writer Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, but it was reported earlier this year that it would be moving to Netflix due to the fact it did not fit the new direction for Max-DC content being spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Steve Yockey developed the series for television. Yockey also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Beth Schwartz. Greg Berlanti, Jeremy Carver, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Gaiman also serve as executive producers of the series. The first episode is directed and executive produced by Lee Toland Krieger.
The full synopsis reads:
“Do you have a pesky ghost haunting you? Has a demon stolen your core memories? You may want to ring the Dead Boy Detectives. Meet Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), ‘the brains’ and ‘the brawn’ behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency. Teenagers born decades apart who find each other only in death, Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts… who solve mysteries. They will do anything to stick together – including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself. With the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), they are able to crack some of the mortal realm’s most mystifying paranormal cases.”
The cast of the series also includes Jenn Lyon, Briana Cuoco, Ruth Connell, Lukas Gage, and David Iacono. This looks like it’s going to be such a fun series to watch! Check out the trailer below, and keep an eye out for the show’s 2024 release date.
