Fun Trailer for Netflix Animated Feature THE TWITS Based on the Book by Roald Dahl
Netflix has released a fun trailer for their animated feature The Twits, based on the beloved book by Roald Dahl, who also wrote some of my other favorite childhood books turned movies like Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, to name a few.
The film is co-directed by Phil Johnston (Ralph Breaks the Internet), Katie Shanahan and Todd Demong, with new music from David Byrne featuring Hayley Williams. The script is co-adapted by Johnston and Meg Favreau.
The voice voice cast features Margo Martindale, Johnny Vegas, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Ryan Lopez, Emilia Clarke, Natalie Portman , Timothy Simons, Nicole Byer, Jason Mantzoukas, Alan Tudyk, Mark Proksch, Rebecca Wisocky, and Charlie Berens.
The synopsis reads: “Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Phil Johnston reimagines Roald Dahl's iconic characters, Jim & Credenza Twit, in their first feature animated adventure.
“The Twits tells the story of Mr. & Mrs. Twit, the meanest, smelliest, nastiest people in the world who also happen to own and operate the most disgusting, most dangerous, most idiotic amusement park in the world, Twitlandia.
“But when the Twits rise to power in their town, two brave children and a family of magical Muggle-Wumps, are forced to become as tricky as the Twits in order to save the city.
“A hysterically funny, wild ride of a film (chock-full of the Twits' beloved tricks – from Wormy Spaghetti to the Dreaded Shrinks), The Twits is also a story for our times, about the never-ending battle between cruelty and empathy.”
This looks like a very fun and sweet take on a book I loved as a kid, as I’m sure many others did. It will be fun to watch with the family.
Check out the trailer below, and watch The Twits on Netflix on October 17th.
