Super Fun Trailer For PIZZA MOVIE Teases a Crazy Drug-Trip Comedy With Gaten Matarazzo

Hulu has unleashed the trailer for a ridiculous new comedy called Pizza Movie, and it looks like the kind of chaotic late-night adventure that spirals way out of control.

The film stars Gaten Matarazzo and promises a wild, drug-fueled college comedy packed with bizarre encounters, surreal hallucinations, and a quest for pizza that turns into something far stranger than anyone expected.

The movie marks the feature directorial debut of comedy duo Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, who have been writing for Saturday Night Live since 2016. If the trailer is any indication, their first movie leans heavily into absurd humor and unpredictable situations.

The story follows two college students who set out for what should be a very simple night. Jack and Montgomery just want to take some drugs and order pizza. That plan immediately goes sideways.

The official synopsis explains: “It's a Friday night and college students Jack & Montgomery have got big plans: They’re going to do drugs and order pizza. But when the home-made drug they ingest turns out to be MUCH wilder than they thought, the simple journey down two flights of stairs to retrieve their pie becomes a mind-bindingly transformative quest.

“Still though, how hard can it be? The only thing in their way is a broken elevator, Montgomery’s social anxiety, the fact that everybody in the school hates Jack, a sociopathic RA, a vengeful butterfly, a robot with a dream, and this insane drug that has absolutely no regard for the basic laws of reality.”

What starts as a casual pizza run turns into a full-on psychedelic odyssey through a college dorm. The two characters are forced to navigate a bizarre gauntlet of obstacles while under the influence of a mysterious experimental drug that seems determined to bend reality in every possible direction.

Matarazzo leads a fun cast that includes Sean Giambrone, Lulu Wilson, Jack Martin, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Caleb Hearon, Marcus Scribner, Sarah Sherman, Justin Cooley, Kevin Matthew Reyes, Adam Herschman, and Lucas Zelnick.

Oh, and Daniel Radcliffe plays a buttlerfly!

The concept is ridiculous, but it sounds like a lot of fun! Two flights of stairs shouldn’t be a challenge, but when hallucinations, social anxiety, and increasingly strange characters enter the mix, that simple mission becomes an epic adventure.

The film is set to premiere at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival currently underway in Austin, Texas, giving festival audiences the first chance to experience its trippy college madness.

For everyone else, the wait won’t be long. Hulu will release Pizza Movie for streaming on April 3rd, 2026.
