A fun new trailer has been released for the video game comedy Hero Mode, which follows a high schooler whose parents’ video game company is on the verge of failing when he steps in to freshen up a game that could make or break their future.

The film stars Chris Carpenter, Mira Sorvino, Sean Astin, Indiana Massara, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kimia Behpoornia, Phillip Solomon, Monte Markham, Creed Bratton, Jim O’Heir, Nelson Franklin, Al Madrigal, and Bobby Lee. This is the feature debut for director A.J. Tesler, with a script by Jeff Carpenter.

Here’s the synopsis:

With her indie video game business on the brink of bankruptcy, Kate (Mira Sorvino) throws a Hail Mary and puts Troy (Chris Carpenter), her teenage coding genius son, in charge of creating a video game to save the company. It’s a dream come true for Troy, but quite the opposite for the company’s disgruntled coders (Sean Astin, Mary Lynn Rajksub, Kimia Behpoornia) and their rival CEO (Nelson Franklin).

This looks like a movie my whole family would enjoy. Check out the trailer below, and watch Hero Mode in theaters on June 4, 2021.
