Funimation and Bigscreen Bring VR Anime Films to More Countries

A few weeks ago, Funimation announced that they were working with Bigscreen to bring anime titles to virtual reality. Well, the two companies have announced that international fans can now enjoy this wonderful platform. Starting today, fans in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the UK can join US fans in their VR anime viewings. This is just in time for the virtual live screening of Akira taking place on May 15 at 6 PM PST. Colin Decker of Funimation said:

We’re making good on our promise to deliver anime across every platform where fans want to be. Virtual reality enables our communities to connect in a meaningful way and we’re excited to be partnering with Bigscreen as we take anime to new places.

Darshan Shankar of Bigscreen said:

Bigscreen is creating a unique experience to bring people around the world together. For the first time on May 15, anime fans in different countries will be able to meet up in our virtual world and watch Akira together.

This is really cool. You can download Bigscreen from their website, and the platform is compatible with Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, HTC Vive, Valve Index, all SteamVR headsets, and all Microsoft Windows Mixed Reality headsets.
