Funimation Is Launching Tiered Pricing for Its Streaming Service

If you’re a fan of anime, you’ve probably heard of Funimation. You might even be subscribed to their anime subscription service. Well, it looks like they’ve decided to change things up and introduce tiered pricing which is to go into effect on April 10. All tiers give you an ad-free experience to watch your favorite anime titles.

The lowest tier is called “Premium,” and it will run $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year. If you’re a Premium subscriber, you can stream simultaneously from two devices.

The next tier is “Premium Plus” for $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year. This level allows five simultaneous streams and users can download episodes on your phone or tablet for offline viewing. Premium Plus subscribers will also get access to special member only events and offers at the Funimation Shop. If you are currently a Premium member, you will be grandfathered into the Premium Plus tier on April 10 at the current rate of $5.99 for as long as your account is active. That’s right, you’ll pay the same as you already do for even more perks.

The final tier is “Premium Plus Ultra.” It costs $99.99 a year with no monthly option and has a name clearly inspired by one of the most popular anime at the moment, My Hero Academia. In addition to the perks of Premium Plus, the extra $20 a year will net you a gift on your membership anniversary, two “pay-per-view” rentals a year, and all order from the Funimation Shop will have free shipping.

If you use the “Family & Friends” or “Power-Up” add-ons, I regret to inform you that these will come to an end on April 10.
