Funimation to Stream Remastered ROBOTECH and Announces New Blu-ray Box Set
Funimation is going to make some anime fans very happy. Starting August 24, fans can stream all 85 episodes of the remastered version of the classic space opera anime epic Robotech as well as the two movies Robotech II: The Sentinels and Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The remastered version actually appears to do a decent job of cleaning up and crisping up a lot of the classic series although I’m sure there are plenty of people who hate it. You can see a small comparison here:
Robotech is told through the eyes of characters caught up in a series of wars that erupts when a mysterious spacecraft crash-lands on Earth. Only through unlocking the secrets of Robotechnology do they have any hope of surviving. The sprawling series helped introduce a generation of western audiences to anime and is full of engaging drama, genuine relationships, and forward-thinking ideas.
In addition, Robotech fans will be able to get the Robotech – Collector’s Edition box set exclusively through Funimation on September 28 with pre-orders now live. This includes the remastered series on Blu-ray for the first time. The box set also features an exclusive Variant Transforming Robotech - Roy Fokker’s VF-1S; an exclusive Variant Action Figure - Roy Fokker in Pilot Uniform Variant Shade of Black; and a series of Robotech-embroidered patches. What more could a fan ask for?
