Funko Pops! Are Getting Their Own Movie – It Was Only a Matter of Time
Well, with the Funko collectibles company being as popular as it is these days, I guess it was only a matter of time before someone in Hollywood was like, “Hey! I got a great idea! Let’s make a Funko movie!”
The movie is reportedly in production at Warner Bros. and it is said to be based on the Funko Pop! vinyl figures and bobbleheads that depict all kinds of pop culture film and TV characters.
SuperBroMovies writer Daniel Richtman is reporting that Warner Bros. Animation is heading up the development and as you might imagine they are looking to capture the same kind of magic and success as The LEGO Movie franchise. As you might imagine, the plan is to bring together a lot of different pop culture characters just like they did with The LEGO Movie.
While there are no plot details, the movie will reportedly center around the characters Harley Quinn, Darth Vader, Wonder Woman, the Care Bears, Hellboy, Deadpool, Hello Kitty, and My Little Pony. So, there’s a little something for everyone! Oh yeah, that also means that Marvel, DC, and Star Wars characters will all appear in the same movie together.
Normally I would roll my eyes at this news, but I rolled my eyes at The LEGO Movie when it was first announced and that movie turned out great!
