Funny Trailer For Gender-Swapping Comedy Feature LADIES FIRST Starring Sacha Baron Cohen & Rosamund Pike
A funny trailer has been released for the comedy Ladies First, starring Academy Award nominees Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Les Misérables) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Saltburn), as well as Charles Dance, Emily Mortimer, Tom Davis, Weruche Opia, Bill Paterson, with Richard E. Grant and Fiona Shaw.
The film is directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You, The One & Only Ivan, Wicked Little Letters) from a screenplay written by Natalie Krinsky, Cinco Paul and Katie Silberman.
The story is based on the Netflix film Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile written and directed by Eléonore Pourriat.
The synopsis reads: “Damien Sachs (Sacha Baron Cohen) seemingly has it all: money, power, and a never ending stream of casual flings. As he prepares to ascend to the role of CEO at a leading advertising agency, his life is turned upside down when he wakes up in his worst nightmare: a parallel world dominated by women.
“Where he once ruled the boardroom, he now finds himself humbled and going head-to-head with the newly fierce & fearless Alex Fox (Rosamund Pike). With the rules of engagement changed and Alex at the top of her game, the two boldly battle it out in a playful & satirical comedy about what happens when the script is flipped.”
When I saw the set up of this trailer, I assumed it was a remake of What Women Want, but this story takes a turn, letting a man get a taste of what it’s like to live in a society not ruled by the patriarchy, but swapped. I think this looks like a funny film that may give us some interesting things to think about.
If nothing else, it could provide a few laughs. Check out the trailer below, and watch Ladies First when it premieres on Netflix on May 22nd.
