FX Has Ordered Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS Series
If you are fans of Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's hilarious film What We Do In The Shadows, you'll be happy to hear that FX has officially ordered the TV series after the pilot was shot. The first season will consist of 10-episodes and there's no doubt that it's going to be great! How do I know? Because Clement is a writer and executive producer on series, and Waititi will direct and executive produce.
According to Deadline, the series is set in New York City, and the story will follow the lives of three vampires who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years. The series stars Kayvan Novak as Nandor, the head vampire of the house. Matt Berry plays Lazslo, the goofiest in the house, the type of vampire who turns into a bat and flies into a wall. Natasia Demetriou plays Nadja, the badass female vampire of the house. And Harvey Guillen is believed to play Nandor’s assistant. I also heard that Doug Jones was cast in the series. I don't know who he's playing, though.
Nick Grad, President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions had this to say in a statement:
"What We Do in the Shadows only gets better with age thanks to this brilliant adaptation for television by co-creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. Their feature version was a hilarious, fresh take on the mundanity of everyday life that even immortals must face. We are thankful to them, Paul Simms and Scott Rudin, and this amazing cast for taking us deeper into the shadows with this series.”
I can't wait to see how this series turns out!
