FX Renews THE STRAIN for Fourth and Final Season

TV The StrainFX by Joey Paur

FX has announced that they've renewed Guillermo del Toro, Carlton Cuse, and Chuck Hogan's The Strain for its fourth and final season. That final season will air in the summer of 2017.

The show is based on the trilogy of books by Del Toro and Hogan, and the plan from the very beginning was for the show to run three seasons. Each season would focus on one of the books. Then there was talk of a possible five season run. Looks like they met in the middle with four, which is perfect.

In regards to the announcement, Cuse had this to say in a statement:

“It is a true joy to work at FX where creative intentions always comes first. Our original plan was for the series to last three years. Once we began telling that story it expanded to be more. After finishing the writing on season three, Guillermo, Chuck and I looked at our remaining story and felt the best version could be told in one more season. We have a fantastic plan for an exciting and climatic season four. We are deeply grateful to FX for supporting our vision and for allowing us to end the show on our own timetable.”

This is a fantastic horror series, and if you're not watching it, you should definitely check it out, especially if you're into vampires. I'm excited to see how the series comes to a close. With the team of talent they've had working on it, I'm sure they'll finish off strong!
