FX's THE BEAR Was Quietly Renewed for Season 4; Will Film Back to Back With Season 3
FX’s award-winning hit series The Bear has been renewed for a fourth season, which will film back to back with Season 3 in Chicago.
The move raised speculation whether this might be the popular restaurant comedy’s final chapter — something that happened with another acclaimed FX comedy series, Atlanta, which ended after shooting Seasons 3 and 4 back to back.
That has not been determined, according to sources, and a Season 5 of The Bear remains a possibility. As to why Seasons 3 and 4 are filmed back to back, accommodating talent schedules is one explanation as the show’s Emmy winners are on the rise. The fast-paced culinary dramedy has been a major vehicle for its stars, who are getting major work in Hollywood, with star Jeremy Allen White already establishing himself as a leading man with his work in the heartbreaking drama, The Iron Claw. Ayo Edebiri will return to voice-acting roles of April O’Neil in the Ninja Turtles series that’s coming up, and has joined the cast of Inside Out 2. Ebon Moss-Bachrach was just announced as Marvel’s Thing/Ben Grimm in the upcoming The Fantastic Four.
Creator Christopher Storer’s star is also on the rise because of how the show captured the zeitgeist. Deadline reported earlier this week that Storer has signed on to do write and direct a feature take of Amor Towles’ The Lincoln Highway.
Season 3 of The Bear will premiere in June. As for it’s future, we will just have to wait and see, but I hope it sticks around a while.
