Gael Garcia Bernal Set to Star in Marvel's WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Halloween Special
Marvel Studios has cast Gael Garcia Bernal in its upcoming Halloween Special that’s in the works for Disney+. That special will put a focus on the classic character Werewolf by Night. There aren’t any plot details to share at this time, but there are two versions of this character, which include Jack Russell and Jake Gomez.
The Jack Russell version of the character is a victim of an ancient family curse, and struggled for years with his bestial alter-ego. “But over time has conquered his inner demons. Now he fights the dark forces that plague our world. He is an enforcer of justice, an avenger of shadows, and a Werewolf By Night.”
The Jake Gomez character discovered that he could transform himself into a werewolf without the influence of a full Moon at age 13. It’s explained that one night, Jake and Molly, his cousin, discovered that the Life Pharmaceutical organization had captured some of the tribal people from Hopi Reservation in the Painted Desert, so they embarked on a mission to stop them.
Both versions of the character are capable of transforming into a werewolf at will while retaining their human intellects. Marvel is looking to start production on the special in early 2022.
Gael Garcia Bernal most recently starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s film Old, while his upcoming projects include the HBO Max series Station Eleven and the Jennifer Lopez-led feature The Mother.
