Gal Gadot's CLEOPATRA Movie Will Now Be Helmed by THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Director Kari Skogland

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier director Kari Skogland is back in the director’s chair for Paramount’s upcoming film Cleopatra, starring Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot. Skogland is taking over for Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, who was first attached to helm the film, but is now reportedly pivoting to producing the film as she focuses on her next two projects: Wonder Woman 3 and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

Cleopatra is a biographical drama scripted by Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island, Alita: Battle Angel). “Cleopatra is the daughter of Ptolemy, ancestor of the leader of Alexander the Great’s army. When Rome’s ruler Julius Caesar’s mentor-turned-rival Pompey fled to Egypt after a brutal war for control of the empire, Egypt became a fixation of Roman rulers. Two siblings battled for the throne of Egypt. After winning that internal struggle by appealing personally to Caesar, Cleopatra had a complicated relationship with Rome, becoming the lover of Caesar and later Marc Antony. The latter alliance would become the undoing of both Antony and Cleopatra.”

I think this is going to be a pretty epic movie. I enjoyed the work that Skogland did on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Gadot is so fabulous, I can’t wait to see her in the role.
