GAME OF THRONES Creator David Benioff and D.B. Weiss Developing an H.P. Lovecraft Inspired Thriller at Warner Bros.
Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have set up a new film project at Warner Bros. that is inspired by the graphic novel Lovecraft.
According to the report, the movie asks a horrifying question… “what if H.P. Lovecraft wasn’t making it up? What if the monsters he created are real?” I absolutely love the concept of that! The story for the film will also be set in 1920 within the Cthulhu mythos.
The film doesn’t have a title and the script is being written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, the writing team behind such films as Aeon Flux, Ride Along, The Invitation, and Destroyer.
Apparently Benioff and Weiss have been looking to make this project for a long time and have been in discussion with Warner Bros’ Courtenay Valenti and Toby Emmerich for several years. This project predates the deal they made Netflix.
It will be interesting to see how Benioff and Weiss’ future projects end up doing after they dropped the ball on the Game of Thrones’ final season. This film has a great concept, hopefully they can execute it properly and turn it into a good film.
