Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have set up a new series at Netflix in their five-year, $250 million overall deal at the streamer, and it is an adaption of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Overstory. The drama is in development, and Netflix describes it as "a sweeping, impassioned work of activism and resistance that is also a stunning evocation of the natural world. It tells the story of a world alongside ours that is vast, interconnected, resourceful, magnificently inventive and almost invisible to us. A handful of disparate people learn how to see that world and are drawn into its unfolding catastrophe."

Richard Robbins (Good Girls Revolt, 12 Monkeys) penned the script and will exec produce alongside Benioff and Weiss. Hugh Jackman is a fan of the novel and has signed on to executive produce alongside the author Richard Powers and Game of Thrones producer Bernie Caulfield.

This is the third series in the works at Netflix for Benioff and Weiss, including The Three-Body Problem from Alexander Woo (The Terror) and half-hour dramedy The Chair, starring Sandra Oh, from showrunner Amanda Peet (Benioff's wife). THR reports Three-Body Problem has already been the subject of controversy, though Netflix swiftly responded to criticisms.

Are you looking forward to The Overstory or the other projects from Benioff and Weiss?
