GAME OF THRONES Season 6: Bran's INCEPTION Connection Will Be A Game-Changer
No, there won't be a real, literal connection between Game of Thrones and Christopher Nolan's Inception in the upcoming sixth season of the HBO series, but Isaac Hempstead-Wright — who plays the not-so-young Bran Stark — has teased a figurative connection between the two properties in a new interview.
Speaking with EW, Hempstead-Wright revealed that the show, which has shied away from flashbacks save for a brief one featuring a young Cersei Lannister last season, is about to switch up its storytelling style (vague possible SPOILERS ahead):
“Previously Bran’s seen tiny glimpses of future or past but never has he been very much in control in the situation,” he says. “Now we’re given looks into very important events in the past, present and future of this world and Bran is beginning to piece them together like a detective, almost as if he’s watching the show. Equally, he’s now discovering how crucial he could be in the Great War. It’s quite Inception-y.”
In the show's early seasons, I always sort of wished they would just hurry up and move on to the next scene any time Bran showed up, but since I've now read most of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels (I still haven't finished A Dance With Dragons), his storyline works much better in book form than it does on screen. I'm definitely interested to see how Bran operates as a character now that he's finally trained with the Three-Eyed Raven, since up until now his entire existence seemed to revolve around simply making his way across Westeros to get to that character. Game of Thrones returns to HBO sometime in April. Check out the teaser trailer below:
