GAME OF THRONES Series Creators Are Set to Write and Produce a New STAR WARS Film Series!

Whoa! Here's some unexpected and awesome news! The creators of HBO's Game of Thrones series, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are going to write and produce a new series of Star Wars films!

It's explained that the new film series will be separate from the Skywalker saga that started with Star Wars: A New Hope. This will also be different from the new trilogy that director Rian Johnson is currently developing.

Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, had this to say in a statement:

"David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today. Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting."

Benioff and Weiss went on to say in a joint statement:

"In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since. We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ is complete."

This is super exciting! There are no details on what they are planning, but I'm excited to see what they end up giving the fans! Benioff and Weiss are both super talented individuals and I love that they are going to jump in the Star Wars universe and give us some fresh new stories from the galaxy far far away.

Does this news get you excited about the future of the Star Wars franchise?
