GAME OF THRONES Star Kit Harington Developing a "Very British Western" Series
Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is developing a new TV thriller series that is being described as a “very British Western.” The show is about a hotshot who discovers his family is running a drug business.
The series will consist of eight episodes and the story follows Jake, “a big name in the big city who reluctantly returns to his family farm in the Lake District for a distant cousin’s wedding. He hasn’t been home for 15 years but following a tragic accident finds himself the unwilling head of his family, before discovering the unthinkable, that his father had been running a multimillion-pound drugs racket from a hidden corner of his family land.”
Harington is producing the series along with Top Boy writer Daniel West. There are no details on the cast, but Harington could end up taking on the lead role. He said the series is “a very British Western, set against the Lake District’s stunning visual backdrop.”
He offered some additional insight, saying: “The Galloways are a family fighting to survive, wrestling with their identity, trauma and the burden of inheritance, as ancient traditions collide with the mores of modern Britain.”
New Pictures CEO Willow Grylls said the show is “thrilling, dangerous and fun, but always with a searing emotional core.”
This seems like a good project for Harington to take on. I know he’s been trying to get a few projects off the ground, but hopefully, this one works out.
