Gaming Hardware News from Alienware, MSI, and Razer
Over the last week or so, a few of the gaming computer companies have made some announcements and launched some new machines. The three companies we’ll be talking about today include Alienware, MSI, and Razer, and we’ll be discussing them in that order. Products include desktops, laptops, and monitors.
First, we have Alienware with two releases. The Aurora R15 is a new desktop for gamers available in white or black and comes spec’d with 13th generation Intel processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards (the ones that are melting and are larger than an Xbox Series S). The Aurora R15 is available now starting at $1,799.99 and are designed to stay cool with 240mm liquid cooling, five 120mm fans, and hexagonal side-venting. Alienware’s monitor is the 34 Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor (AW3423DWF). Complete with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification and a WQHD (3440 x 1440) resolution, this monitor is aiming to earn its price tag of $1,099.99. The QD stands for Quantum Dot which is a technology that allows for a slim panel and greater color performance. This monitor is said to have a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. For connectivity, you’ll find an HDMI (ver. 2.0), two DisplayPort (ver. 1.4), four USB 3.2 Gen1 downstream ports, one USB 3.2 Gen1 upstream port, one line-out, one headphone out, and a security lock slot. Next, we have MSI who announced the new Infinite RS and Aegis RS series of desktops. Much like the Aurora R15, these gaming desktops come with 13th generation Intel processors and RTX 40 series graphics cards. The Aegis RS series is designed for 1440p gaming and features tempered glass panels, RGB fans, and a DIY feel for easy repairs and upgrades. Meanwhile, the Infinite RS has a new chassis design, four 140mm ARGB fans, a mesh-like design on the front panel for improved airflow, and more. It’s also the more powerful of the two machines if you max them out and has room for a 360mm liquid cooling radiator if that’s your style. Finally, Razer made some announcements recently. It launched the Razer Blade 14 in the Mercury color and it looks very nice. The laptop houses an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor and either an RTX 3060 or 3070 Ti for $1,999.99 or $2,599.99 respectively. In addition, Razer announced a software update coming to all 2022 Blade 14 models. The two Type-C USB-3.2 Gen 2 ports have been upgraded to USB-4 and support for Microsoft Pluton has been implemented. This provides more compatibility and connectivity options via Thunderbolt and more. It is advised that you contact Razer Support to download this update.
